The horse is the most important animal for Kyrgyz people, and for centuries it has been a source of food, milk, skin and a way of transportation. Horses are divided based on their use: either for food or for work. If it’s used for work, then the meat will become too hard to make a good food out of it. The most popular drink during the summer is ‘kumus’, fermented horse milk. You can milk a horse around 6 or 7 times per day.
